One of the good things about this course and university in general is getting to know new people, their interests outside of the course and their particular strengths. I was happy to discover that my keen interest in making music is shared by peer and friend Paddy Johnson. In my previous post, titled The Use of Sound: Thinking Ahead, I referred to The Trouble with Maisie, a work of Paddy's group from last semester that included a fairly low sound quality recording of a piece composed on guitar. Recently he stopped by and I figured it would be a good opportunity to set up the recording equipment and do a quick sound test of him playing a segment from one of his favourite Roy Orbinson songs, In Dreams:
Because I got this recording gear quite recently I'm still learning to use it in order to create the best results it's capable of, though it was good practice for future projects nonetheless. We both like the idea of producing something for one of his future films, however it kinda depends on whether I'd be able to receive any credit for such contributions despite it being within another group's project. I guess the experience is worth something in its own right, at least - Enjoy!
